The UK Space Agency has today (5th August 2010) launched a new round of Space for All sponsorship awards and is inviting people from across the UK to submit ideas for projects that will help increase awareness amongst the general public of the UK's exciting space programme and inspire and educate the next generation of scientists.

All entries for the funding awards will be judged later this year by a panel led by the UK Space Agency and supported by representatives of the UK space community. The total awards fund is £35,000, with up to £5000 available for each successful applicant.

Many groups and individuals across the UK share the UK Space Agency’s ambition to increase awareness of space science and are keen to turn their innovative ideas into projects that can explain the importance of space science and the role it plays in everyday life. Previous projects that secured funding from the Space for All scheme include the recent Space Settlement Design Competition and the OurSpace website and competition.

The winners of the UK Space Settlement Design Competition, aimed at 14 - 18 year olds and run by Imperial College London, have just returned from Houston where they competed in the international leg of the competition and were amongst the team that scooped first prize for their excellent space settlement design.
