National Space Technology Roadmap Update
Rocketeer — Fri, 20/08/2010 - 4:41pm
(Source: Space SIG mailing list)
Sector Working Group Updates
Sensing: The Sensing Roadmap Group have produced a first iteration of technologies, sub-systems and instruments, in the form of a comprehensive database covering areas of UK interest. We are also working on an overall mapping of UK capabilities, based initially on the entries in the UK Space Directory. Both of these will be reviewed by the working group at its next meeting on 18 August before distribution to the wider community in advance of the three national workshops in September.
Telecommunications: The telecommunications technology roadmapping working group is continuing to work on both the detailed communications roadmap and also the associated summary of the UK capabilities and competences linked to the roadmap technology plan. A first draft of the documents is planned to be available for wider discussion after the full group meeting which was held yesterday. Refinements are expected between now and the national workshops in September.
Robotics and Exploration: The first round of technology proposals from within the sector working group have now been completed and collated. The group is now preparing for the forthcoming workshops when the rest of the community will have the opportunity to make their proposals to be included in the roadmap.
Access to Space: The access to space working group has compiled a draft version of the roadmap and is now preparing for further discussion and input from the delegates at the September workshops.
